Who am I?

That’s me, Smoltzie, dressed as a cowboy. Looking tough.

I love baseball and talking about baseball and watching baseball and thinking about it too. So I write a few posts each week mostly about baseball. Increasingly about this whole Mitchell Report fiasco, which is hardly baseball but provides more drama than free agent negotiations. Feel free to give me your comments or tell me I’m crazy or whatever.

For those of you interested in me personally, I’m from Georgia and a Braves fan. My mom says I have a nice smile and my friends are divided on my facial hair situation. I’m totally into W.B. Yeats and currently trying to get into Wallace Stevens. I’m pretty sure I’d love waterskiing if I had ever tried it.

I prefer finesse pitchers but can’t deny the excitement of a good power arm. My favorite pitch is the slider although I’d rather have a good knuckleball. Griffey Jr. has the sweetest swing in game; it’s too bad he’s made of glass. I’m a big fan of small ball even though nobody likes it anymore. Moving the runner to third is a thing of beauty.

Some people might think I put up this site as part of my graduate studies in journalism. I won’t contradict them.

Don’t ask me about the name of the site. It’s a strange story.
